My wife and I have been here twice, once as a couple, once with another couple. It is very authentic central Italian food, although I note that the owners are from Molise and not the Marches. The service was excellent and it turned out that one of the kitchen staff was an acquaintance. The owner/chef and her husband, as well as her neice (our waitress), were all extremely friendly and visited us throughout the meal. Tre Scalini is too small and crowded to be called `intimate` in the romantic sense, but is intimate in the dining sense. It earns high points for the food and joyous atmosphere of a true neighborhood-based culinary gem.
